What does everyone feed their rams? I feed mine frozen brine shrimp, they go crazy for it.

My rams also love the brine shrimp as well as frozen bloodworms and a good quality pellet. But you are right, they seem to really love brine shrimp!

When they are in the community tank they eat flakes until shrimp pellets are given then they eat those. I mostly give frozen bloodworms in the breeder but make sure they have pellets as well.

Like 04_si, my rams are in a community tank.

I start with flakes or bloodworms, which my rams devour if any sink to around the midline of the tank. While the topfeeders are occupied with those, I add Ken's Premium Sinking Bits for the rams, which they love so much they don't even let hit the substrate. I've seen a ram that was moving towards a bloodworm turn and dive for a sinking bit to get it before the others could.

I feed mine a good varied diet of the following:

Omega One Super Color flakes (Primary)
Tetra Color Granules (Primary)
Frozen Bloodworm (at least weekly)
Live Brineshrimp (on occassion)
Frozen Cichlid Delight (on occasion)
Hikari Micro pellets (fed to Cardinals in the tank)
Live BBS fed to their fry.

My Rams are also not shy about eating. When they were in my community they would push everyone around during feeding. My large male Ram has been the master of every tank he has occupied in our house.

I think a good variety is as important and what your feeding, that way they get all the vitamins and minerals they need. When conditioning for breeding they need lots of protein.
Mine will grab what ever hits the water. Their not particular so I feed- Omega one color flakes, Omega One veggie flakes, Omega One shrimp pellets broken in pieces, thawed frozen Bloodworms, Brine Shrimp, Mysis Shrimp, Cyclops among other stuff I can't think of right now LOL

Looks like everyone has some great advice on ram food! I should add that I supplement the brine shrimp with Tetra Cichlid pellets, but they rams usually hold out for the brine shrimp.

I just bought some Ocean Nutrition Cichlid Omni Pellets. The LFS I purchased it at specialises in cichlids. They suggested I feed brine shrimp 2x per week and pellets the rest of the week.
