Single Ram in Community Tank?W

Would a single ram in my community tank work well? I'm trying to find some fish that I can keep one or two of...I'm not crazy about schools because I like to name my fish and I can't tell the schools apart. I've read that pairs do well in community tanks, but I don't want a pair because I'm not interested in breeding just yet because I don't have the extra time to put into it. I'd have no objection to a single female if she'd be more docile toward the other fish I'll have. It'll be a 55 gal tank with gouramis, hatchets, cories, swordtails, small plecos, and possibly a peaceful tetra species, but I'm actually trying to replace the tetras (since they school) with a couple different types of non schooling fish. Any input? Thanks in advance!

hi i have 2 bolivian rams i think they would probly do well by themselves they fight between each other so it would probly be good to get 1 if you got one

Hi Gouramigirl
I have had single GBRs and Bolivians in my tanks and they were just fine by themselves. You could get away with just keeping one IMO.

they do well alone, but in a 55 you could have 2 of the same sex and not worry about them fighting as long as you have lots of places to hide.

Also think about apistos as a loner beauty.

male apisto cacutoide triple red are really nice looking fish. Too bad they are hard to find around here. It'd be hard for me to choose the GBR or apistos and I don't have room for 10 tanks!!
