Hi all!!! We have a peculiar problem with one of our new tank mates! We recently picked up a pair of gold rams at a local fish auction, and the male appears to have a bump on the top of his head that has formed since we've had him (1 week). When we picked them out, there was just what appeared to be a coloration difference. The bump looks like a white pimple, really (gross, I know!) but it is not fuzzy and is definitely not
ICH. It is located in the middle of his forehead (right above his eyes) and is about the size of half of one of his eyes. It looks solid and is completely round. It has gotten bigger on the fish in the week that we've had him. Could it be a growth of some kind? And is it something that will need treatment?
The fish has a wonderful disposition, and the pair stick together when swimming in the tank. He eats well at all feeding times, and besides the visible bump, there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with him. The pair together are active swimmers and complement each other nicely. We really enjoy watching our pair swim around, and we really don't want to lose him. I've never seen anything like this on a fish before (will try to upload a picture soon)! Our water quality is the same as in the aquarium info, and I'll be doing a
water change tomorrow. Thanks so much for all the help from the forums, and I'll look forward to hearing what this might be!!!
