Favorite ram tank mates?

So I'm setting up a 20 gallon tank, and the stars of the show will be a pair of M. ramirezi. But I also would like a school of fish, preferably reasonably small, and not to weird looking. So what are people's favorite ram roommates?

Also, preferably one that is easy to find in fishstores! I'd rather not have to order online if possible.

Neons or other small tetras (I love rummy-nosed tetras) are peaceful and very attractive, and favour similar water conditions. They should be relatively cheap and easy to find, too. Neons only get to 1.5", rummies to about 2" - keep them in a school of at least 6.

I would suggest 1 male and 2 female rams and a school of 5-6 pygmy cories and 6 marbled hatchetfish or 8 dwarf pencilfish or 8 neons or cardinals. I wouldn't reccomend rummynose tetras in anything less than a 29 gallon because they are very active and need lots of space to swim.

I wouldn't recommend tetras atall, since they can get the tetra disease and whipe out a whole tank. Not sure how common it is, but still... I don't risk it.

Not sure but white cloud mountain minnows?

Not bad colouring, not sure if they'r good schooling fish though.

i have 2 rams in a 20g tank with Serpae Tetra. I was worried the tetra would nip the fins of the ram, but the rams wont take any from the tetra, they chase them away

My favorite Ram tankmate

I've only had a few Rams, but I have a male Dwarf Neon Blue Gourami that has gotten along with them very well. He and one of the Rams are very friendly, often swim together, and even casually brush against one another without the slightest aggression. My Leopard Cory Cats get along with everyone...
