A few quick questions
I was just hoping some one could answer my questions about blue and gold rams. Firstly are they compatible with dwarf gourami? Secondly is it better to have 2 males or 2 females if i want to cut down aggresion? Also which out of blue and gold rams make btter community fish?
Jack.

I don't know if they are compatable with dwarf gouramis, I would think that they would be fine. The best ratio is, 1 male:2 females. If you have 2 males, there will be lots of territorial disputes. The gold and blue are the same fish, just a color variety. It is like bettas, they are different colors, but the same fish. Hope it helps.

Oh and with the compatibility i was doing some reading and the liveaquaria chart says its a yes and other sites recommend gourami as compatible tank mates. i have the option of buying some gold rams tomorow however they are tiny so it is not possible to sex them yet or drive to manly to get some blue rams maybe tomorow or next weekend.

I don't really think there will be a problem, but I have never had just 2 females.

The thing about that chart is, it is just a general thing. I would ask some other members here, do lots of research on them and maybe ask the store owner/manager if they know anything. I will ask someone on another forum that is mostly full of cichlid owners.

I think you may have misread what i wrote, i said that not only is it a yes in the chart but that on other websites they actuaally recommend blue rams and gourami for community tank set ups.

But remember, they usually just say, S.A. cichlids and gouramis are compatable, but in real life, it all depends on the personallity of the individual fish.

Well I have to say this, you really did your research, good job. Now, rams are peaceful little fish, but I had one that chased down one of my lemon tetras until the tetra died of exhaustion, so I had to take the ram back. I don't know why the ram did that, but I have others that are doing great with my lemons now, so like I said, it all depends on the personality of each fish.

Yer, its unfortunate that things like that happen but i managed to pick 2 gbrs this morning and they have been in my tank for about an hour and the gourami are leaving them alone and they are leaving the gourami alone so hopefully it continues to go well.

Generally, the rams stay at the bottom and the gouramis stay at the top, so in theory it should work. Good luck with them though.

Yes, Dwarf Gouramies and GBR's should get along just fine, my GBR's got along with a male and female pair of Gold gouamies.
GBR's are slightly more aggressive from my experience than their gold counterpart, probably because of genetics.
