Ram photos

Please use this topic to post your Ram photos. It's stickied so it appears at the top of the posts. Please use your own pictures, and not material from the internet.

While your compliments on the photos are really appreciated, text-only posts will be removed after a while to keep the gallery pictures-only. If there is a discussion you do not want to loose, please start it again in a separate thread.

Thanks,
Armadillo

That is one of the most colorful bolivian rams I have ever seen Butterfly, I thought it was a GBR at first glance.

Re: Ram photos

Here are my rams... or rather, one of them, who seems to be much less camera-shy than the other. These pics are taken with flash, the rams' colours are rather washed out by my aquarium light, which sucks

Re: Ram photos

Howeyg- the first two are excellent examples of male and female rams.
For ID purposes- the first spine on the dorsal fin of the female is shorter that the others and her tummy is kind of pinkish purple.
The first spine on the dorsal fin of the male is longer than the others and he has no color change in the tummy.

Another one of Pablo - even though Miguel is the dominant one, I never get any decent photos of him :

Nice rams Howeyg! Females are very pretty.

Re: Ram photos

It doesn't look like a Bolivian at all, though. The body shapes, colours and eyes are completely different. Bolivians don't have those blue shimmery scales like blues and golds do, or the red faces. Bolivians have much larger eyes and a big black line on their face as well as a differently shaped tail fin, and the prdeominant yellow colour is absent on Bolivians.

Just because it's larger doesn't mean it's a Bolivian!

Here's a pair of bolivian rams in full spawning colors, guarding a newly-laid batch of eggs. The male is up front, the female is the one closer to the eggs.

Ram_Kelly's Rams

Here are some pretty decent pics of my 2 long fin GBRs. I can't tell if they are male/female or both male. I haven't seen any sign on a pink belly but the one with shorter fins does appear to have a shorter 1st dorsal fin spine. Who knows. Also, tell me what you guys think about the long fins. I'm not a huge fan of them, but they were the only ones I can find in a 50 mile radius of me>

Here's the latest pictures of my Bolivian Rams.
Click the image to open in full size.

I have one definite male in the foreground of the picture above. He has the long ray on his tailfin.

The other one, is unsexed so far. Others have thought it was both male and female.
