| Re: Ram photos Howeyg- the first two are excellent examples of male and female rams.
For ID purposes- the first spine on the dorsal fin of the female is shorter that the others and her tummy is kind of pinkish purple.
The first spine on the dorsal fin of the male is longer than the others and he has no color change in the tummy.

Another one of Pablo - even though Miguel is the dominant one, I never get any decent photos of him :
Nice rams Howeyg! Females are very pretty. |

| Re: Ram photos It doesn't look like a Bolivian at all, though. The body shapes, colours and eyes are completely different. Bolivians don't have those blue shimmery scales like blues and golds do, or the red faces. Bolivians have much larger eyes and a big black line on their face as well as a differently shaped tail fin, and the prdeominant yellow colour is absent on Bolivians.
Just because it's larger doesn't mean it's a Bolivian! Last edited by Lucy; January 21st, 2010 at 09:42 AM.

| Here's a pair of bolivian rams in full spawning colors, guarding a newly-laid batch of eggs. The male is up front, the female is the one closer to the eggs. |

| Ram_Kelly's Rams Here are some pretty decent pics of my 2 long fin GBRs. I can't tell if they are male/female or both male. I haven't seen any sign on a pink belly but the one with shorter fins does appear to have a shorter 1st dorsal fin spine. Who knows. Also, tell me what you guys think about the long fins. I'm not a huge fan of them, but they were the only ones I can find in a 50 mile radius of me> |

| Here's the latest pictures of my Bolivian Rams.
I have one definite male in the foreground of the picture above. He has the long ray on his tailfin.
The other one, is unsexed so far. Others have thought it was both male and female. |
