I do not know if it is an unusual coloring for a GBR or not. But yes, the top and bottom of his fins are tinged with a pink line. He is so kewl I really do want more of them to keep him company. He is a real trouper and hanging out with the other fast swimming rainbows has given him friends in a way. lol..
They are very peaceful to other fish, I do not see why you couldnt put a few of them into your 55g community tank.

I have 2 girls. Can I drive to your place ?  I can guarantee my girls   are from a good family and I can offer some dowry (spelling ...) .

Hey Kate, I can't be sure without looking, but I thought they liked acidic water, and mine is soooooooooo alkaline. I asked for a 20g for Christmas --- ha , ha, you should have seen the look on his face.!!

Your so right about the PH, I forgot what yours was. LOL on another tank. Remember, its so hard to keep up with them all!  There is no such thing as a day off!

You are right about no day off, but let's raise a glass to "cocooning" - I only wish I could just stay here with my fish ..
Oh ya, and I asked for a 29g.........he just has not sense of humour sometimes!!
