Tigerfish

My male rainbowfish has developed which looks like a scale growing off his lip, but could it be a parasite an anchor worm? Please can anyone identify it?

if it is stringlike it could be a gram negative bacteria called columnaris, do frequent partial water changes and add some pimafix to it and should be ok in a week or two

I am having a similar problem. I believe it is a bacteria. I found Melafix bacteria helped other fish that had it in the past. I am not a pro though.

Your response confuses me for primafix is listed as fungus medication.

im sorry, i ment melafix, but pimafix could be added with with the melafix,
i had a similar problem with one of my boesman right after i purchased him, i did partial water changes 20% everyy 4 days and added melafix ( sorry about the pima listing) for 3 to 4 days. the problem cleared up in about 2 weeks ,
