Tank Size?

What should be the minimum tank size for rainbows?

I'd say for a school of the smallest sized ones 20 gallons. But I don't really have any experience with them so I might be wrong.

i would say a bigger tank, 30 gallons or above for a school if you want them to be really happy IMO iused to have them, when i was younger

I agree with a minimum of 30 gallons as rainbows are such active swimmers

For dwarf rainbows, I'd say a 20L is the smallest. I started a small school in a 20H and it was quickly evident that they needed more space.

For larger rainbows like bosemani and such, I'd say at least a 55 for a larger school. I know others say somewhat smaller, and I've never kept the big ones, so I don't really know.

now im trying to think of convertions but my minds on over load. i asume 20L ius like 10g or mabey a 15g

i personally think you can keep a bout 6 dwarf raimbows in a tank 10g in size.
that is not the prexocx (or how ever its spelled)species as they get like three inches.

I think that 20L is to mean a 20 gallon long .Iagree 6 dwarf rainbows would be ok in a 10 gallon but i would'nt do any more than that. More or the larger ones and i'd go with a 29 gallon at least.

We definitely need to clarify this information. The rainbows that you're thinking about are the threadfin and the celebes for the 10g, right? Because what most people call dwarf neons are the Praecox, which definitely get too big for a 10g.

Yeh i was think along the lines of threadfin. With the praecox i would do no more than 2-3 in a ten gallon.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with you, Steve58. IMO, praecox should be in nothing smaller than a 20 long. A 30 is even better. They do like to be kept in schools and they do like their swimming space.
