Live Food for a Threadfin RainbowI

I have a threadfin rainbow, and I've been doing some research on what types of food are best for them. Several sites have said that they should be fed live food at least every once in a while. However, I can't find anywhere that says what TYPE of live food to feed them. Every site also stresses that they have small throats although they have large mouths. lol.

So what would be some good live foods to use. Right now I'm feeding Freeze Dried Bloodworms and Tropical Fish Flakes on alternating days.

I have seven Threadfin Rainbows in a 75g tank and you are right their throats are small.
I feed mine thawed frozen cyclops, daphinia, rotifers, brine shrimp plus specially crushed flakes. If you can get ahold of some live MicroWorms they would love them.
I noticed you said "a" threadfin. They really do better in groups but since your tank is desperately overstocked I personally wouldn't add anymore.
I just noticed your ammonia is at 3.0. That is a toxic level, I recommend you do a 50% water change today and another each day until it goes down. At that level you may start losing fish.

I have Gertrudae and feed them everything Butterfly mentions, plus frozen Baby brine shrimp and Hikari Micro pellets.

they have baby minnows, baby brine shrimp, and baby guppies for live food..just have to be careful as most LFS dont take care of their live foods and they carry lots of diseases...id try some frozen brine shrimp and bloodworms

The baby brine shrimp are an excellent idea but the others are too big for their mouths.

we've gotten the Ammonia down. We had just finished doing a 50% water change and adding an ammonia clear tablet when I put that down, and the ammonia was still high.
It's gone down since then.

Thanks a bunch everyone as well!!

Is there a bigger tank in the near future? Your fishies sure need one. Glad the ammonia is down but since the tank is cycling and overcrowded it will spike again. Keep an eye on it

This is 10 gallons? Do you know clown loaches grow to a foot long? Even without that, your tank is grossly overcrowded.
