My bosemani has been alternating from a dark, blackish blue to a light blue, sometimes within a few seconds. Is this normal?

Quite normal, rainbows do that. You will usually notice changes due to nearness to a female, sometimes of a different rainbow type even, or other fish that stress them, or to light in the morning....this is when my rainbows seem to display the most vivid colors....

Rainbows are one of my favorite fish, look for different colors as there are many all very lovely.

I have 2 bosemanis and mine change colour when they are stressed and when the light has been off for ages.
