Mating Rainbows?

I have 3 'sharks'.. one rainbow, one albino rainbow, one redtail. Though not recommended these fish do get along well, with minimum chasing and almost no nipping. The albino is the only female, and the most timid. A few times I've noticed her rubbing side by side the other two, not quite fighting but vigorously. Typically when I've seen them fight, they pair up head to tail but this 'rubbing' was head to head. What are the chances she laid eggs? Is this part of mating? What conditions may have caused this? (so i may repeat). Would the eggs survive and what would best serve them? Any information would be wonderful as not much is available to the topic.

Thank You in advance.

Re: Mating Rainbows?

The chances of them breeding is very, very low, just to let you know.

Re: Mating Rainbows?

Yes that's all i hear, but i hoped i might get lucky. Though to date they are all split up and slowly but surely the cichlids are taking over. The rainbows had to get over not being the dominate fish, but they do not fight with their carnivorous tankmates. They are very interesting now with their fins flared more often and their colors have darkened, reds and blacks. They strut around each other but never any contact.. yet. They will be split up once the cichlids get a bit bigger. Anyhow, i've thrown in the towel on breeding rainbow's, they look much better when their apart instead of fighting anyway.
