Re: advice needed on dwarf puffers

This is sooo going to be my next fish. everything I've read about them notes that they're super territorial though, so I think I'm going to set up a small 5g and get it cycling for the puffer to go solo. They seem to be as addictive and personality filled as betta's, so it should be an adventure.

Isn't that how it always goes? I went shopping for corys to keep my betta happy annd decided I must have a puffer.

Going to check out that forum now - there isn't much dwarf puffer info out there.

wait...that's the reason you don't like puffers? i mean, we're talking about freshwater dwarfs - they're like an inch long.

I'm just always confused when people go to a forum to complain about the forum topic. :

Re: advice needed on dwarf puffers

Wooohooo! We finally got our dwarf puffers. We got the kind that only grows to 1in. I believe these are pygmy puffers, but am not sure. They are really cool. We got 1 male, 2 females. They're in a 13G with 3 kuhli loaches and 1 leopard pleco. So far, so good. They're happily exploring away in a little school.

One question, though: can they deal with sand as the substrate? Any counter-indications?

Re: advice needed on dwarf puffers

Thanks, Dave! They're actually a little rude, and ignoring us all the time. At the shop, they were going 'buy me, buy me!' and now, they're giving us the finger. We thought they'd be more interactive than that. It's early days, though. I love watching a fish develop and evolve with time. They are cute little buggers, with their eyes moving independently and all. Really cute.

How bad have you got it?

Of course...I have it REALLY bad. LOL By the end of the weekend, I'll have 8 tanks in my apartment, plus 1 little pufferfish.

My puffers did the same, all active "buy buy buy" in the store. Took them home, they will have nothing to do with me. My girlfriend, they eat from her hand. I come in, they hide. Sand is supposedly good for them, as they're scaleless and all, but not neccesary as most gravel is rounded and all.
