I got 3 at walmart, when they were looking really bad- tails nipped off, and with ick. I have them in a 10 gallon and now they are in great health. But, as they grow I would need a far larger tank, so I am facing having to give them to the good fish store in town to find them healthy homes. They have so much personality, they just are supposed to get really agressive and need a lot of room when they are older :-(

Ya know, it's funny that you bring this up...My husband & I were at Walmart just while ago...they had a BUNCH
of spotted puffers.....only about 3 looked healthy...I felt SO SORRY FOR THEM!!!
Don't EVER buy fish at Walmart...they NEVER take care of their fish....3 out of 4 will be unhealthy and or have ick!
Thanks for telling me about the changing color, I told my husband about them changing colors, he thought I was crazy...and I knew what I saw!!! Your right....when they are very active, the belly's are all white!!!!!
