Pea puffer?

Is this just another name for dwarf puffers? I saw some at a LFS and they looked just like dwarf puffers but I wasn't so sure

Yup. There's several names for them.
One of the LFS's I go to said they could get them so I checked with PFP about their ID.

Yup, I'll second Lucy on that. My LFS calls them Pea Puffers also.

I took some pictures last night but I didn't get the chance to upload them yet, maybe tonight

I went to the LFS yesterday afternoon and was surprised to see the tank that was once FULL of dwarf puffers this past Sunday to see only a few left and a few dead ones I asked the owner if she had really sold them all in just 2 days and she said that actually they mostly died and asked me if I still wanted to purchase them, I couldn't resist, I already have previous experience with dwarf puffers and knew that I have a 50/50 chance of them surviving the first week so I told her to bag all the ones still alive and brought home 9 seemingly healthy puffers

I got them home and they seem social enough, following each other, playing tag and the rest are loners lol each in their little corners ... I did notice one puffer lying very still and he did look ill but this morning I didn't find any dead puffers so I may be in luck I'll be buying more plants for more hiding spots

They're in my 55g They seem more afraid of everyone else right now than to peck at each other, thank god lol

oh okay that changes everything then... are they sharing the tank or is it just the puffers?

sadly I've lost 6 dwarf puffers with 3 remaining 3 were lost sometime after the first night and 3 more this afternoon, the remaining 3 look okay, no ill appearances and swimming around okay - I have yet to see them eat but they are probably still nervous. I tried planting baby snails in front of them, trying to teach them to hunt down snails but that didn't work lol

I should have taken the LFS owner's advice and skipped on this batch, they met the same fate as all the other dwarf puffers before them

Here are some photos I took the first night

I love the first one ^^ it looks like they are dancing

Oh my goodness they are so adorable. I'm sorry you lost some of them. They are very sensitive little guys. Don't deal with travel well.

Very sadly now I am down to my last puffer he/she is a tough one though I've seen it peck at a fish buddy or two and forage around for food but it won't join the others at the top yet during mealtime

All is well - at least I still have 1 puffer left - yay!
