Snail Farm For Puffer Chow

Okay, so the decision has been made! I'm getting a 30 gallon for two F8 puffs. I want to start a snail farm in my spare 10 gallon for food for the little guys. I was wondering if there were any fish I could keep in there that wouldn't eat the eggs or baby snails? I don't think I can deal with having a 10 gallon that has nothing but snails. Thanks!

Put some cherry or crystal red shrimp in there with the snails.

I agree with the above. I have a cherry shrimp tank and I like it alot.
You could also try guppies.

None of my fish eat my snails well except for the baby JDs who eat anything that hits the water. My offer still stands for anybody in need of snails (puffer food)...you pay postage and I will send you all the snails I can get into the box!!!

Ramshorn, pond, and some small flat almost clear little snails. I got them when I had puffers and now that I don't have puffers I am overrun with snails. I am in the process of trying to find some assassin snails to clear some out right now....LOL. Anytime you need some more puffer food just give me a holler. All tanks are disease free except for the one tank I just got rid of ICH in so I would not send any from that tank until a few weeks have passed at least but trust me there are plenty of snails around here. I have some mystery snails too along with loads of mystery snail babies but I don't think they would make good puffer food...LOL.

With my new South American Puffer I need all the snails I can get.... I'd gladly take you up on your offer I'll even take mystery snail babies if you need to get rid of them.

Well just send me a PM with your addy. I think a small flat rate box is 4.85 or 5 bucks but I will double check. They mystery babies just hatched so they probably would not do you any good since they are smaller than a pinhead right now. Oh I promise you I have enough snails to keep your fishes happy for a loooonnnnggg time.

Thanks, everybody! I think I'll give guppies a try. My boyfriend likes them but they won't work in any of my other tanks.

Can you ship snails to Canada?

You will have to check the regulations. I think you have to have certain permits to ship to Canada but check and make sure.
