Red eyed puffer with otos?

I know dwarf puffers get along great with otocinclus, but what about red eyes? I'm having a bit of an algae issue in Wilhelm's tank, but I can't just completely leave the lights off because of my live plants. And everyone knows what a puffer does to snails...

Hm... I have never heard of it being done... doesn't mean it can't work... you could give it a shot, if you can keep a close eye on them for the first few days.

OK... this obviously isn't going to work. I decided to kidnap, er, I mean transfer one of my oto's from the 29g to Wilhelm's tank for a few days, and, if Wilhelm tolerated him, to put the oto back into the 29g and buy Wilhelm a couple of his own.

So, I got one and put him in a Ziploc bag with some of the old tank water because my community tank is a couple of degrees warmer than Wilhelm's. I set the bag in his tank and the little cad swam up and tried repeatedly to bite the oto through the bag!!! I took the oto back to the community, and when I let him out, I'm pretty sure I heard him saying, "Hey, this looks an awful lot like my old home! And... wow, are those my 2 friends over there?"

P. S. Wilhelm, I'm sorry for calling you a cad. All I've ever put into your tank is food, so how could you know any better?

Little buggar.
