Pinkfloydpuffer, I need help!

Do I need to de-worm my freshwater dwarf puffer? Can I use whatever I'm supposed to use with my betta on the other side of the divider?

Thanks!
Carrie

Sorry I haven't been on until now
I recommend deworming, but it's not a complete necessity. The betta should be fine with the meds, but you could also just give the puff the meds with their food.

Most meds I use are just taken orally. But if you don't want to go that route I suggest Jungle Parasite Clear with praziquantel, which in my experience is a rather mild med. But of course I highly suggest the oral treatment.

How does the oral med work? Do you feed it to snails? Do you put it on snails? Do you put it in other food?

Depends on which kind. The two I've used are GelTek UltraCure and Jungle PC. I suggest GelTek. It is a liquid, so just soak their food in it before feeding and you're good to go. You can do the same with Jungle, but I've found it to be less effective.

I'd try the food like PFP suggests. Not that I know how to deworm a puffer but because it's not a good idea to medicate the betta unless he's sick.

Would it work if I soaked snails in it? I'm wondering because she doesn't eat the shells.

It may. You'd need to bathe the snails in it and let them crawl around in a concentrated solution for at least an hour.

Great! Thanks Pink, I'll do that. I knew you'd know what to do!
