Possible IP

The GSP I just acquired has me confused. His belly doesn't sink right in after he it's - it gets quite full and round and stays that way for a while. When he is finally empty, even then he isn't sunk in, just flat. However, his poop is one long white string. So I'm not sure if he has an IP or not but figured it would be better to be safe and treat him anyways.

My question is, the only IP treatment I'm finding at the store near me is JUNGLE Anti-parasite Medicated Fish Food for internal parasites. Is this a suitable de-wormer?

EDIT: I just checked another pet store a little further away and found Jungle Parasite Clear Tank Buddies. So in your experiences - which if either would be better?

Thanks so much,
Tiffany

I'd suggest treating him. I doubt you'll get him to eat the medicated food. What I suggest instead is get the tank buddies and soak his regular food in it for about an hour before you feed it to him. I've had some success using Jungle. It's not the best, but it worked on one of my puffs.

Ok, I'll try the tank buddies. In your experience, if it's white poop is that definitely an IP? Cause the belly seems fine. So if the white poop isn't DEFINITELY an IP then I'm not sure how I'll even know if the jungle buddies works?

thanks again, TIffany

Gavin423; The white is diff; ip's and i have dealt with a lot of them and it's best to deworm him now as it don't take long to do some serious harm to your fish lol and i have had good luck with Jungle Parisite Clear, hope this help's you bella

Thanks, Bella. Yeah, I'm still so confused with this puffer, lol! The one time she pooped it was white. However, her belly is still nice and round HOURS after eating and when I saw her poop today it was the normal color not white. So I'm hoping that means perhaps she doesn't have worms. However, just to be safe, I am going to worm her. She is too darn cute to take a chance on

Thanks again,
Tiffany

tiffany;yeah that sometimes happens with ip's lol had me confused as well but it is ip's lol and best to catch it now. good luck with your little guy, they are all wild caught lol and the possabilty is great so no point in taking a chance lol. One fish i had would go white one day and not the next-but was full of them and it took me more then a month to get rid of them and of course they spread to my other fish so it was a battle lol and i never want to see one again.bella
