Nope, not eating. Yesterday she'd bite at it but spit it out, and today she doesn't even come to see me at the glass when I am by the tank. She looks so miserable.

I took some more pics of her... not really any use for diagnosis, but taking pics of my fish makes me a bit better.
Just look at those eyes.

Honestly, I think its worth a try. Poor thing! She obviously isn't doing well in the current conditions (clean water, heated and filtered tank) so I would think that the next step would be to medicate. I would say to raise the temp of the tank but after what happened with my fish, I don't want to recommend that to anyone that does not know what their fish has.

I'm wondering, is it at al possible that her teeth are either overgrown or that she catches the inside of her mouth when she bites down? That would explain the not eating.

This morning she was sitting on the bottom. When she tries to swim it's kind of jerky and odd-looking. Her fins are still clamped.
Last night I added a dose of Jungle PC and Melafix. This morning I saw her pooping out something about a half inch long, thin, and pale yellow in color. Definitely seems like IPs to me. So that's at least part of the problem.
Today is going to be another long day at work.

Don't even say such things!

Oh, another diagnosis that was offered was that maybe she was caught with cyanide. That would have some nasty side effects

cyanide? how would that have happened and what would happen to her? could you treat with anything?

Since they're wild caught, some mean people use cyanide to catch fish for the aquarium trade. Causes all sorts of problems. I remember reading something about it a while ago, I'll go see if I can find it again.

Poor baby At least you were able to pinpoint the problem. That is often the hardest part. I hope she gets better soon

that's insane....where did you get her again? is there a way that you could see if the other puffers from the same LFS (if that's where you got her) have the same symptoms?

Here's the link: http://www.petstoreabuse.com/cyanide.html

I got her from Bird World and Pet Village, an lfs about a half hour's drive from me. I could see if they still have them I suppose. They didn't have a ton when I got Fletch though. Like less than 10. But the store might not actually know how they were caught, since it's the wholesaler or maybe even just the person who caught them that knows.

I saw an article about that in a magazine a while back. That is so horrible! I don't think the LFS would know how they were caught, but it would be worth it to ask.

I don't know if they'd care though Last time I went I was horrified to see that they had a few dyed fish. And of course they all had awful finrot and what looked like lymphostysis.

Ok, we'll call it a temporary truce on both sides to support each other.

I can't say if mine is doing any better or worse than yours.... she is sitting on the bottom and clamping her fins and such.....

I am assuming F is in brackish tank?
Any extra shedding of slime (floating around)?
When curled up and laying on bottom, any noticeable difference in breathing (labored)?
Are tails and/or pectoral fins somewhat tattered with possible white edges?
Using magnifying glass, check for fine dusting (smaller than ICH) on tail and/or fins.

Yes, it's 1.005 SG
Haven't noticed any slime
Don't think she's breathing any heavier.
Don't see any dusting, doesn't mean it's not there though
Her fins are slightly tattered on the ends.

Now she's laying there like this.... I don't think she's gonna make it. She looks awful
