Need help with Figure 8's

I need help soon. I have been doing my research on puffers and was setting up my 75g for it/them. Well my son brought me 4 figure 8's last night. For the moment they are in my hex tank that I know is too small (40-50 g not sure). I was only planning on one maybe two to start out with but now they are here and I just want to take very good care of them. My 75 is cycled and ready to go. It has been setup for over 6 months and had my mollies in it that were just recently moved to a different tank. The tank has no plants in it yet or places for them to play since I was going to do that before getting the puffers. We gotta love our kids don't we!!!

I have got to go back through all my paperwork that I printed out to make sure I do everything perfect. Thanks for all the great info Pink.

Any help here would be appreciated in case there is something that I missed. I do have some plants that I can put in from another tank where I have extras so plants will not be a problem since I have lots in all my other tanks.

They are gorgeous by the way real cuties. Now I have to get their new home ready for them. Not the way I planned but I will manage with your help.

Sorry for the letter folks. I will just leave it at this for now.

Thanks in Advance,
Sherry

Haha, what a great son, so thoughtful
A 75 would be wonderful for 4 figure 8s. You could even fit more in there if you wanted to (Although I like giving puffers more room then they need)
Even if the 75 is rather bare, I think they'd be ok in there for a few days as long as it's fully cycled until you can get all the decor you want. At the store they have to live in a tiny tank with nothing in it, so a big tank with nothing in it is one step up

Hey Pink. I knew you would come to my rescue. I thought the 75 would be okay I just wanted them to have plenty of room. I'm getting ready to put them in now. Yes I have been reading just to make sure I was ready since apparently I have to be ready now! I will just get their new home "decorated" as they settle in. Now we have to come up with names. They are really curious arn't they? Eyes are very clear and it looks like they just want to talk to you. This is gonna be fun even though I did not feel like I was quite ready yet. I will get pics posted as soon as I can. Glad you are no more than a computer away since I am sure I will have many more questions for you even though I have read all of your info on these.

Thanks,
Sherry

These are just too much fun. I never realized a fish could have so much personality. One is a bit shy and hides when you go near the tank but the other three are right there to greet you . It's like they know you!!!

I also saw some green spotted puffers when I went to get food for these guys....oh man they are gorgeous. Now what can I put them with the figure 8's or do I need another tank? No I did not buy them...yet.

Still putting plants in and they seem to love them. I have a couple of logs with fake plants on them that really look real I am thinking about putting in for them too. Hey if they/I don't like it I will just change it. I hope to post some pics soon.

I have the snail farm started hee hee. Checking on Ebay and Aquabid for some just to tide me over until my farm is up and running well.

They really do have lots of personality, don't they?

F8s and GSPs have different salinity requirements, and GSPs get twice as large and much more aggressive, so I can't recommend you keep them together. You'll need 30gs per GSP. They are so much fun though. I love their aggressiveness, it makes them so much fun to watch and feed, and they also BEG for food like no other! lol

Can't wait to see your tank!

I hope your snail farm works out well for ya! Mine is suffering... for some reason I can keep neither plants nor snails alive.... ;:smack

Well the personality is just unreal. They just look like they want to chat with you. Well I just setup another 55g today so that should accomadate two GSP maybe...if not one will be fine. Will have to wait until the cycle is over on that one so I have a little time beforehand. And yes you will be glad to hear I am hooked.

About a year maybe two ago I practically had a snail farm and I did not do it on purpose. I had one ramshorn snail to begin with and after about 9999999999million I lost count. I am hoping that will happen again but since I want it to probably not. My thing with that was I was really bad to overfeed, which really increases your snail population. If mine get going like before I will send you some.

They really do My little Fletcher that I got a few days ago has been learning so fast it's amazing. She already has learned that I'm the one to beg

A 55 should be great for two GSPs. I wrote an article on them in the fish profiles section, that should give you the basics of what you need to know

Lol, that's how snails work: they only come when they are not wanted!

Haha, sweet!
