dwarf puffers and african dwarf frogs

I had the PDP and ADFs together for a short while whilst sorting other tanks but wondered if they would actually be ok long term, they were only together for a short while but seemed to get on ok, :S

thanks in advance

Hi Kris, personally, I wouldn't chance it. I don't have DP's but as you know other than hiding your ADF wouldn't be able to protect it's self.

Seems like a bad idea to me as well... DPs could make a quick snack out of a little slow and defenseless frog.

Especially when they hit maturity, dwarf puffers become very territorial. Size doesn't matter. They'll pick on anything really, as long as it's something that won't eat them.

Once they get older that may not be enough room for them territory wise. Do you know if you have males or females? A 60L would be better for them to prevent aggression. I'm pretty sure for now it'll be fine though. Maybe you could get a bigger tank pretty soon and keep the smaller tank as an ADF tank. I love those guys, they're so much fun.

i have got a seperate 15L tank for my ADFs, and i have an overstocked 60L and a cycling 40L, and im now trying to get a 140L on ebay so i can move them about into better suited tanks; size, water chemistry and aquaplan included. thank you for your help, i was hoping you'd see this thread

Even if it is something that will eat them, they can be devastating. I've heard of people losing a juvenile oscar (whose mouth is considerable larger than a dwarf puffer) to one. Puffers will take a bite out of nearly anything they can, either to be belligerent or to see if it's tasty. They're mean (but cute) little buggers.
