Aw shoot. I hate to hear when a puffy dies. It's the second or third one to die on this forum just this month. Not a good puffer month I suppose.
RIP Puffy, I'm so sorry you had to leave us.

If he was a brackish fish that grew 5-6" I'd have to say he's probably a green spotted, maybe a Ceylon...

Pink- i was told he was a dwarf, when i purchased and then when i went yesterday i was told he was a green spotted and would grow to at least 6-inches; had i been told that at first i would have still had him. The regular guy was there yesterday and told me even though he is a green spotted they keep them in fw and from what i understand -they are light brackish. so i feel so bad-i could have still had him but the regular guy was not there when i purchased "puffy' so i am now setting up a light brackish-any advice lol as i want it right for the next little guy.He was such a happy little guy and no signs of illness. He should have had brackish water, which the guy at the lfs says 'Oh, i keep them in fw and they are fine' lol maybe that is why mine died, as he showed no signs of disease, and
my water parm; were amonnia-0 nitrates-10-and nitrite-0- but not brackish and should have been. So i am now setting up a brackish and have been doing a lot of research on the green spotted and have one picked out, but that won't replace 'Puffy' but maybe this one won't die as 'puffy' should not have lol. Sorry for the long post but feel very bad with 'Puffy's' loss. bella

Here's a good link: http://badmanstropicalfish.com/brackish/brackish.html
Also, the Puffer Forum is probably your best source of info on puffers.
