Figure 8 Puffer Companion?

Used to have two. One died and the other I think needs a companion, but my fish store only had two. So what possible companion could be in my 20 gallon tank with my single 1 inch F8?

Oh no, I'm so sorry he died
RIP little puffy

Puffers will be fine on their own. They're more interested in their owners than in other fish.

The one puffer only leaves you 5 gallons of stocking space. The only thing I can suggest that might work are bumblebee gobies. But of course there's no guarantee.

Ok so I put in 3 silver Scats and they were doing well then tonight all of a sudden my puffer decides to get in a ball and sit on the bottum of the tank. should i get rid of the scats?

I think that makes you pretty overstocked. The scats get to 5 inches each, so you'd need like a 30+ gallon tank for your current fish. I don't think its really and aggression problem, but yes, I'd take then out.

In a 20 gallon tank, no. Remember, the puffer's bioload is 15 gallons.
Curling tail and sitting on the bottom is a sign of stress. Did you test your water or do a water change? I'd always check the readings whenever they show signs of stress like that.

I'd actually get rid of all, they are schooling fish, and the one that was left behind would be stressed with out his friends.

That would definitely be my choice...
But it's PufferMayne's tank, can't make decisions for them...

i left just two and they are doing fine, everyones eating and i did a tank clean and 50% water change and also i forgot to mention the scats size. ridiculously small. barely makes half an inch

Again, it's nothing I'd ever do. But it's your tank, so... good luck.
Don't be surprised if the puff takes some nibbles though.
And watch your water quality. As those fish grow it will be amazingly hard to keep the water clean with that many fish in there.

And the scats will grow. Thats what a lot of people say when they buy a two inch pleco for a 10 gallon tank.
