I have a bad feeling the Captain won't be alive when I get back home today...
I was changing his water this morning and he got spooked by the hose ans jumped tank. He was only out of the tank for about 30sec but he didn't look good once he got back in. He couldn't exspell the air he puffed up with so I had to help him get it out. After that he just kept sinking to the bottom and curling his tail.

I'm pretty upset right now since I had just nursed him back up to health and he was finally starting to take to me. And just the other day was the happiest and most active I've seen him since I've bought him.

Aw .
I've had Stachi jump out of the aquarium, but he didn't puff. Fell like 4' though.

Did you get all the air out? It's very important that it was all expelled... Here's a link about de-airing puffers, at least for reference... Help! My puffer is air-filled!

It's normal for them to sit on the ground and curl tails when they are stressed. And puffing is definitely very stressing. Poor thing

How many hours will it be until you can check in on him?
If he's still alive when you get home then you should be sure to pamper him extra. Any helpful additives you have should be used, like Garlic Guard, etc. You could try to get him to eat, but if he doesn't it's not to be unexpected...

I really hope he's still there when you get back. Me and my puffers are praying for your little guy.

Well he's still alive. He was on the ground when I came in, but he swam up to the glass to greet me. He ate a Vita-chem dosed shrimp so he's still eating. He still looks really bloated though and his anus is really dilated. Could he still have air in him and is making him constipated?

edit: If it is air, I'm afraid that if i try to de-air him now, it will just get him stressed all over again.

Such good news
I'm glad he's alive and eating.

Yes, he probably still has some air in him. Unfortunately, you'll have to make him puff again like it says in the link I posted. It'll be stressful, but the air is usually fatal, so it's better to get it out asap.

No!!! Poor thing! I can't believe it
Aw John, I'm so sorry he died, that's so sad. You did so much for him, and I'm sure he's up in puffer heaven smiling down at you.
RIP captain.
