puffer reasearch conflict

I think that I may have found a site that puffer researchers should be wary of, but I'm not 100% sure, I thought I'd get some feed back first.

What I thought :
"Figure-eight Puffer, Circle-eight Puffer
Tetraodon biocellatus
SYN : Crayracion biocellus, Tetrodon biocellatus, Tetraodon biocellus...1 to 1.5% addition of salt is suggested. Add 7.5-11 TSP. of salt to every 10 gallons (10-15 g/10 L)...REMARKS: This species has lived up to 10 years in captivity. This species can not live in pure saltwater for long periods.
...This aggressive species requires live foods, brackish water, and frequent partial water changes."
site: mongabay.com

What I found:
"Freshwater and weakly brackishwater puffers
There are some freshwater puffers that can tolerate - but do not require - salt. Keep at a specific gravity of 1.005 or below. These include:
Figure eight puffer Tetraodon steindachneri (or Tetraodon pelambangensis )
South American puffers Colomesus psittacus and Colomesus asellus"
site: aquariacentral

As I'm typing i just noticed that they use the same common name but not the same scientific so now I'm more confused.... I tend to trust mongabay when in doubt but... any ideas?

Figure 8's are freshwater puffers in the wild. But hobbyists have found keeping them in a low brackish environment greatly improves their health and life span.

If they have two different scientific names they are probably two different fish. That's why going by common names is so confusing. There may be two or three fish going by the same common name and not be the same fish

The puffer with the true common name figure 8 puffer is Tetraodon biocellatus. Biocellatus meaning "twin spot", referring to the 'eye spots' that these puffers have towards their tails.
And figure 8s, while commonly found in freshwater, always seem to do better in light brackish (1.005-1.008SG) when kept in aquaria.
The best source for puffer info that I've found is The Puffer Forum, as everyone there is a puffer addict and so lots of great info is shared and checked.
