Pee-Wee Puffers

So, I was browsing a LFS looking for some dwarf puffers and came upon these cute little guys. Does anyone know much about them? Are they FW or brackish? how big do they get? etc etc. Couldn't find any articles online at first glance. Anyone have any experience with them?

Hi musicman4567

DP's are adorable aren't they? They're FW.
Here's a care sheet that Pink Floyd Puffer wrote up, I hope it helps you.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I'm wondering about Pee-Wee Puffers, not dwarf puffers.

I imagine their one and the same. Some stores idea of a cutsey name.

I think Carol is right. Is your LFS at all reliable? If so, they might know whether they're dwarf or something else. I remember reading something that PFP once posted that if the puffers are under an inch at the store, they're almost always dwarfs. Someone will have to back that up, though.

My local fish store calls them BB puffers, there's several names for them.
PFP will be able to answer your question. She gave me a link once that had all the cute names for them.
I've looked, but I can't find it.

Well, where the is PFP? I haven't seen her away from this forum for this long... It's a very reliable store is why I'm asking. They are a warehouse and the largest fish breedery (sp?) outside of Florida.

She's been away for a few days. She should be back any day.

we miss her when she's gone don't we? LOL
Was there a scientific name on the tank? Common names of fish can be so confusing. Sometimes new common names are used just make them seem more enticing and up sales. Looking for the scientific names can ensure getting correct information

*Taps foot waiting for PFP* Oh well. I still have to find a 20h before I can clear out the puffer tank.

Hey, I'm back
Yes, I'd say that's a dwarf puffer. The only puffer that stays under an inch. Very cute, and freshwater, and just buckets of fun.

Oh, and, were you not able to find any locally? Fish4U sometimes has them, and Bird World and Pet Village might also. And... I wouldn't recommend it... but Walmart *shudder* has them too (tear )

I have never and will never buy livestock from wal-mart. Fish4U says they aren't shipping dwarf's right now. The place I saw them was Tropical Fish Wholesale out in Sandy.

Thank goodness. It kills me every time I see those little puffies there

Have you asked on the Utah Aquatics site? Maybe someone there knows where you can find them.

I've never been there. Do they have the fish there, or do they have to order it for you?
