I've never seen blue sand before! Crazy.
If they're at the store and under an inch, I can almost guarantee they're dwarves.

I am sure that they are because when I talked to the lady and I said I was looking for dwarf puffers she knew what I meant she just told me that the place they get them from called them Pea Puffers. She told me that they get them in a lot but sometimes they dont but she would order them for me I think blue sand would be awesome looking and different for sure, but I just wonder if it is bright blue or dark blue, I dont want the color stressing those little guys out. I found some really cool looking egyptian decor on e-bay to put in their tank, and then comes the tons of plants and caves for them I cant wait

That will be so cute.
If you're really not sure, you can ask them for the scientific name (If they know it )

My first fish I got was from there. He was a betta named Floyd... and I was rather dumb and trusted their advice, you know what it was, so he lived a year in fish hades. Oh well, he's happier now.

Yeah I have a betta that came from wal-mart and love his little fishie heart he is doing so good. He loves his little bowl in my room on my dresser at the mirror so he can flare at himself when he pleases He is a beautiful little guy.

Bud is so silly, he is currently mad at me because he is the middle of bowl cleaning and I have disturbed his home. Since I keep him in a glass 1 gal goldfish bowl I make sure to change his water out and boil his gravel each time to keep it nice and clean. He is a bit of a messy little guy and loves to blow bubble nests a lot. I had thought about breeding him but changed my mind upon finding out that you cant keep them in the same bowl together.

Yeah...
I keep all my bettas in 5 gallons with heater and filter. After my first betta got popeye from being in a bowl I swore to never again put a fish in a bowl. Poor guy, I was not good to him at all.

I checked that website. Shipping to me would be $35.00-$45.00 depending on which option I chose.

Yeah I saw that too Lucy...I couldnt believe the shipping on them, when I could go buy them for way less at my LFS. Well at the time being Bud seems very happy in his bowl but I have been thinking of getting him a 1 gal. tank and get him out of that bowl. I got a couple pictures of him and Im getting ready to put them up so you can see them

WOW!! Shipping is expensive!!!! Sorry fishmom I wouldnt have put that up there if I knew it was like that! I live near the store so I just drive there instead of shipping which is WAY better.

It's ok dont worry about it, I had checked them earlier and decided against it. I'll just stick with my LFS and get them there. I am kind of weary against shipping them anyways.

I agree... I don't like buying a fish if you can't even see it before you buy it. Especially with the wild caught ones. They could be almost dead and you wouldn't know it until they got there.

Thats a big thing with me, I would rather see them first and then buy them. If they came to you half dead you just wasted money on something your not going to get to enjoy. Even though you can return them in a certain amount of time

Yeah... but with shipping costs, it'd definitely be worth it to pay a little more to get it from the lfs. Especially when they'll usually order fish in for you.

Yeah I am glad they are going to order them for me... One LFS i checked said they didnt know if they could get them or not and they would check for me and call me back, needless to say they have not called I say they more than likely wont either, oh well their loss on a sale

Puffers are very cute. I was watching a few videos on youtube. I like the way they stalk the snail before eating it. So cute! But then I saw some videos of divers, and fisherman harassing puffers. That was sad. I finally felt a little better when one person got bit by a puffer. Serves him right!
It is a pity I don't have the proper tankmates for a puffer. I guess I need another tank.

Anyway, I hope things go well with your puffers. I'm sure a store can get them for you. Those shipping costs are outrageous. You shouldn't have to pay that.

Very true, I do think it is very sad that divers harass these poor little guys they dont deserve that kind of treatment. I cant wait to get my little puff babies, hopefully it wont be too long before I can One of my LFS said they can get them for me all I have to do is call them a few days in advance and they would have them in by Tuesday, so all I gotta do is get a tank and stuff and get it cycled for them

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree on this with you. Puffers need to be fed foods that will wear down their teeth. It's what they're used to doing in the wild. They don't suddenly develop the instinct to rub their teeth on things when you bring them into the aquarium. If you don't feed them foods to wear their teeth, you will soon have to manually clip the teeth yourself, which is not a fun process.

Yeah I heard that it is very hard on them to manually clip their beaks, something about the anesthetic that has to be used can cause harm to them after a period of time....I couldnt do that to the little guys.

Yes... it's thought (with good backup) that it causes brain damage, and eventually kills them...

that would break my heart to have that happen....I would rather take the time to make sure they are cared for correctly than to be lazy and have that done to them...
