dwarf puffers

Do they do well by themselves or are they better in groups? I haven't been able to find a straight anser about that.

A lot depends on the specfic fish. They are quite content on their own, however, if you choose to place a few together do not put more than one male. The standard 1 male with 2 females in at least a 10 gallon tank seems to work for most people.

In our experience they tend to better solitary. While they stay small they tend to be very aggressive and are notorious fin-nippers, in our experience.

You could keep more than 1, just make sure the tank is MAJOR planted to keep the territories. I find it would be best for 1 though, that way you KNOW they cant kill anything.

Everything I have read has said that, unless you have a large, heavily planted tank, having multiple dwarf puffers is asking for major trouble.
To give you an idea of just how difficult keeping multiples is: Even the local Petsmarts only keep one dwarf puffer (nothing else) in the dwarf puffer tank. These are places that will keep fin-nippers with guppies and angels and will cram a dozen or so young oscars into a single tank.

Heh.. Even the pet stores know that if your product kills your other product(s) then you lose income. That's oddly humerous, Darksol. Thanks for posting
