Hi SLM

Snails are such a pest and they 'grow' like weed, you could also try a snail farm project on the side, and see how that goes.

You'd just need a small container, with a contaminated plant (check a plant at the LFS where there are a few snails in the tank where you took the plant from). Alternatively, the LFS would be glad to give you a couple of their ramshorns or malaysian trumpet snails for free.

Put a limestone or broken shells substrate (you can find the shells on the beach, or in a dollar store).

All you do then, is keep a fresh piece of lettuce in there, and once in a while go fish your snails from your farm.

We sadly don't need a snail farm as my main community tank is doing a great job at it . So that's what we do for our DPs.

Breeding snails can't be easier
We have a seperate tank for the snails. Just put some snails in a tank or container and before you know it you've got loads. The MTS breed really quick. Some people don't recommend these for puffers but ours have been fine with them. Plus all our LFS are more than happy to give them away to us.

I have to agree with armadillo. My LFS's were always so delighted to unload snails on me. One of the staff at the store is always a puffer lover, so we would talk puff every week when I would go in for a snail fix.
