I got a second hand (almost new conditions) Weinpro protein skimmer. It is rated for up to 75gals and I am setting it up for my Nano reef 20gal tall tank. I saw the same model at work in a LFS and it collects a lot of dark stuff.

I am placing it as HOB in my small DIY 6gal sump.

I wonder if someone here has experience with this brand and could give me some tips on how to enhance its performance.

Hi you all. I found little information on these brand of skimmer.

It took 4 days to began producing minimal amounts of skimmate, on its 7th day of set-up (today) the collection cup is packing up with it but the color is white not dark.

Is it normal for newly set skimmers in new tanks (mine is carefully fed) to produce white instead of dark skimmate? is this a natural phase and I should expect to collect dark colored waste later on?

The skimmer is designed to run with a pump (either HOB or in-sump) up to 300GPH. I am using an AquaClear 50, which runs (nominally) at 270GPH.

Sorry for not uploading pics, my camera's battery charger is misplaced (obviously by myself).
