I have had people say i dont need a protien skimmer for that sized tank and many of them are from the pet store i want your advice. thanks please reply.

You dont have to have one if you've got fish-only but obviously it does help and would be advisable. It makes a big difference! Even if you get a cheap one to start with but the are expensive for the really good ones. See if you can get a used one in your local newspaper adverts or australian fish magazines.
