Protein Skimmer Forum - Protein Skimmer info and reviews: Protein Skimmer Reviews, AquaC Remora Protein Skimmer, Tunze Nano Protein Skimmer, Octopus 800s Protein Skimmer

The protein skimmer cleans the saltwater and completely removes dissolved organics and proteins from the system into their collection cups before they get a chance to break down further and cause undesirable algae problems. Protein skimmers also help in increasing the dissolved oxygen level in the aquarium water.

Mixed reviews on coralife skimmer. Good or Junk?

I've been looking at the coralife super skimmer 125 for my 75g. It really has mixed reviews. Reviews on Dr. fosters and Smith say it"s a great skimmer. however Reviews on marinedepot.com say it"s . can anyone give me their personal experience?

I have that model, and it's been in my tank for a few months. I personally wouldn't recommend it if you can afford to go a little better. It's not bad for the price, but it's just too finicky to trust for extended periods of time. If you have time to check it every day and are prepared to clean it, it's not bad. I clean mine about every 3 days and it does good enough.

I have 2 of them on 2 different tanks. I like them and recommend them without hesitation.

They aren't the best. But for the price, they do well. It is touchy when trying to get it running perfectly for your tank. You pretty much will get mixed opinions on every piece of equipment in existence.

(Currently running the Coralife for up to 125g.)

they are very iffy. by iffy i mean they are unreliable as the suction on the air intake is lost periodically. They good cheap skimmers, but thats about it. I wouldnt recommend them if you are planning to stay in the aquarium reef hobby ;p

Would you rather recommend a Berlin classic?

I've had 2 different ones. My first was the Coralife. As others have stated, mine stopped pumping air into the skimmer. The other I have is a Marineland. That one every couple of months I have to take it out run fresh water through it clear it out and then it starts working normally again. I suspect that if I had done that to the Coralife, then it would kick in again.

for the price range and the size tank you have, i would strongly recommend the aqua c remora...as mentioned above it is really maintance free...just empty the cup every week and you are ready to go

I ran a 65-CSS for over a year. Great skimmer for the price. It will overflow on you if not adjusted correctly. Is this going in a sump ? Or is it going to be H.O.T. ?
