you dont have to drill tank you can buy a over flow box to hang on side ,,a sump is not really expensive mine cost me less then a external filter,, many people due to the credit chrunch are closing tanks down in the uk so s/hand spares on a auction site are very cheap at the moment

out of the 2 skimmers i would go with the deltec mce as with the red sea they are very hard to setup and you are constantly adjusting them unlike the deltec once you have set then you dont have to play with to get it runnin properly and if you had a sump you could go for the mce600 which is a lot better then the 300
