Skimmer Question

I just bought at Jebo 180 protein skimmer. It appears as though I have set everything up correctly, however it's producing no foam. The water level is about an inch below the opening on the skimmate cup. Any suggestions? Is this the correct way it's supposed to be setup? Thank you in advance.

a skimmer can take a few days to start working so setup how reccomened and let run if you still have no joy after few days make adjustments

Thanks!!!!

Thanks!! I also think I don't have enough fish in the tank to produce any. I have to blue damsels and 55lbs of live rock (55g). What do you think?

If that's the only fish you have, then you'll probably won't see anything pulled. It'll take a few more fish before you start to see anything.

Protein skimmers take days to build up any gunk......I have a 55 gallon with 2 clowns and a large yellow tang and when I clean the skimmer it takes a week to build up again.....

New skimmers take from one week to a month to break in. Good luck. Post some pictures after it finished breaking in.

u should see some of the dirty things that skimmers pull out, check out the skimmer section here, they have some photos of the gunk that gets pulled out.

I wouldn't run a saltwater tank without a skimmer. After seeing what gets pulled from the water it becomes very convincing to use them.

Here's a pic:

i have always run a skimmer there are lots of positives and a few negatives as it removes some traces used for corals i have been reading up on a new bio filter called a turf filter which is theory is brilliant i am in the middle of redoing my 2nd tank which i am going to try the filter out its ment to stop then need of water changes and keeps nitrites nitrates ammonia at zero,
as more people seem to be moving over to natrual filtering making the skimmer redundant ,,,,more eco systems make the hobby cheaper
