New 60+ Gallon pond

Hi!

I am new to pond keeping, and have set up a new 60+ G pond recently, in my apartment terrace. I have used an old bath tub, in a perfect condition. Sealed its drain and its done.

I live in west part of India, where we have warm summers and cool (as we call here, many of you would call it warm!) winters, with summers around 104F to 68F (40C to 20C) and winters about 86F to 50F (30C to 10C), with moderate showers 5 months a year.

The pond is in shade of a tree which wont drop much leaves in it, still has shadow cover. Direct sunlight is available only 1 to 2 hours a day but rest is fairly lit.

Pond dimensions: 60" X 22" X 9" (9" water + 2" substrate)
Substrate: 2" to 3" thick layer of Gravel + dirt 50:50.
Two piles of rocks, medium 4" to 7" rocks with gaps for medium sized fish and 2" to 3" rocks with gaps for fry.

Plants: 3 Amazons, 6 Brazillian microswords, 2 Cabomba sticks, 2 Banana plants, 3 Large and 2 dwarf vallisneria, Java moss and few plants I do not know names...

Added some gravel from an existing cycled aquarium and also squeeze the tank filter media in the pond everyday to seed it to start the nitrogen cycle. pond has been set up 3 days ago and havent added any fish yet but feeding the tank 20 pellets a day for the nitrogen cycle to start. I do not have any idea how long can it take to cycle this pond with current condition of arround 75F.

I do not wish to have Koi or goldfish in the tank, but are Mollies and zebra danios OK? May be 10 each in this arround 250L pond?? would they breed once the pond is well set up and has a lot of plants for them to hide? I also wish to add a pair of some suitable large fish, Please help me with your suggestions and ideas...

Thanks!

That sounds great!! Mollies & Danios sound great. The mollies will breed A LOT, but you can sell the fry. Can't wait to see pics!!
