Nutrient its content Nitrate?

Hi all they,

I'm abit confuse when study how to take care a pond. People say always remove (NO3)nitrate that will kill plant/algae. But when i study on how to take care plant, they say we should add Nutrient for the plant supplement but as far i found that Nutrient too content Nitrate !!!

Did anyone know about Nutrient and Nitrate here ? please advise and thanks.

Nitrogen is a necessary component of plant life. Aquatic plants often absorb nitrogen in the form of nitrate.

Nitrate is toxic in high enough quantities (particularly to fish and inverts), and, combined with phosphorous, it can cause a massive algae bloom that can be deadly to your other plants and animals.

If your pond has any fish in it, you don't need to worry about providing any nitrate for your plants. The fish will do it for you. The important thing for you to do is to keep the nitrate levels low enough (many people say 20ppm or less, I usually go for 10ppm or less) that the nitrates are not harming the fish.

Hi, thanks everyone. I will follow sirdarksol advise by keeping 10ppm or lower.
