| Most pond plants need at least a couple of hours of direct sun. My pond was under our front porch for a while - lots of light, but no direct sun. I couldn't keep ANY plant alive in it. I allowed my houseplants (ivy and pothos) to send streamers into the pond, but the fish kept munching them. I moved my pond to the other side of our front door where it now gets sun for a good part of the morning and my lilies are just going wild. I had a couple of water lettuce plants in it, but they took over too bad. Also, they have been declared illegal here in Phoenix as they do so well here they are a "nuisance". I tried parrot's feather, but it was too hot in my waterfalls and both the parrot's feather and the submerged plants that I tried down in my main pond ended up getting munched by my goldies and/or plugging the pump. |
