goldfish stocking?? please help!

i have a pond outside which is roughly 4-5m long and 1-1.5m wide and a depth of about 1.5 feet. i was wondering whether putting goldfish in would ruin the natural stuff in the pond (frogs, tadpoles, plants, other bugs). also how many do you think i could fit in there.

another question. i also have a half wine barrel as another pond aswell ( so about 22 gallons i think). it currently has 1 goldfish in it. how many more could i fit in there?? i don't feed the goldfish at the moment and im planning not to start if i get others.

thanks. cheers!!

You could put 1 or 2 more goldfish in the wine barrel

Consider that one goldfish needs a minimum of 20 gallons with an additional 10 gallons for each additional goldfish. I would say just the one in your half barrel, and the other small pond could probably have 2 or 3 tops. Also, the goldfish would most likely eat the tadpoles, bugs, and any plants that are currently in the pond - depending on what plants and how big the goldfish is. Is there a filter on either the pond or the barrel? If there is a good quality filter, you might could push the capacity a bit. Just remember that goldfish are a very high waste producer.

Well, I would say the wine barrel idea is very creative!
