Channel catfish

Does anyone here have any experience in keeping channel catfish in with pondfish? I've had them for years. I lost one good-sized pair when I had to evacuate the fish from the pond due to flooding. It never entered my mind that they couldn't surface breath and they died within an hour or so in the tub. The goldies were fine. My second pair is alive and well, this is their 2nd winter. I have an outdoor pond and take them indoors for the winter.

So, they are getting big. The largest one is easily a foot long, the smaller one is probably 7-8", both are the same age. I understand that these guys can get awfully doggone big but I'm wondering if that's true for ones kept in ponds (1000gal) and indoor tanks (too small but well aerated and lots of water changes, next year will be different).

Anybody do anything with their channel cats in the winter? Am I heading for trouble in the next year or so? They are albinos and totally charming in their own way. They handle a lot of leftovers and do some population control as well. I can't keep goldies in with them this winter because they've already shown that they want to nibble more than before.

Catfish in general, will eat just about anything that will fit in their mouth, and try a few things that wont.I have seen some pond raised cats about 95 lbs and 4 1/2 ft in length. A 1000 gallon pond is ok for 2,without anything else;because it will be lunch when they grow bigger. Some Koi's do well with catfish, they grow fairly rapidly as well, but you have to get them the same size.My cousin raises catfish on a farm, for the TX fish hatchery and I have seen some whoppers.
