Junior Gold fish

When I got my fish tank back in the beginning of August, I heard that goldfish kept with tropical was not a good idea. but against my better judgement I kept one of my goldfish in the tank, that i had originally decided to have as its a baby's from the pond, partly because he was the only one I could not net to relocate, anyway hes seems happy enough with the tropical gang now, what consists of guppies and neon tetras, and is growing quite big now, I wanted to relocate him back to the pond but think it maybe to late in the year as its getting a bit cold now, and maybe they need time to reo just for the winter? What do you experts think?

I personally would wait until he could have a couple months to get used to the temp changes. Especially since I know where I live in Pensacola Florida (close to Alabama border) the temp can change a lot from day to night and fish need to get used to it. (I have a pond with young koi and some common goldfish.) I hope this helps!!!

I agree, wait until spring. I bring in most of my fish for the winter, only this year I'm leaving a few out to test out over-wintering with pond de-icers. Before I put them outside in the spring, I fatten them up. Around here, we quite often have a very cold spell in the late spring when it is too cold to feed outside. They've always survived.
