Evil Walmart or Evil LFS

Where I live, we have two (close) options for fish: Walmart or a LFS.

The choice seems like a no-brainer, BUT it's not as simple as it seems. Our Walmart takes nice care of the fish. The tanks are always clean, no dead fish floating around or any of the other horror stories you normally hear about Walmart. Over the last year, our LFS came under new management and it's too terrible for words, and not just for the fish, but the other animals that are housed there, too.

So, what would you do? Go with Walmart that is very nice, but that certainly has bad seeds all over America OR go with the FLS that is disgusting, but...well, it isn't supporting Walmart.

(I'm simply curious. I've already decided that I'm just going to make the 45 minute drive to Petsmart from now on & forgo the whole situation.)

I would go to Wal-Mart but I would never go to the Wal-Mart here normally. My LFS is amazing. I have three LFS.

I would go with evil Walmart. Maybe taking away a little business from the LFS will make them change management again. If that happens switch back and support the LFS.

i dont support walmart pet sales since they take very bad care of their pets. But taking into considertaion that in your area there's nothing better, so i would go whats best for me which would be walmart...

i have 4 lfs around me and 2 of them are pretty bad . i pop in to them now and then and i wouldnt buy fish from any of them . they have staff that dont know what they are talking about , whenever i am buying fish i have to go accross the border which is much better its very annoying when you see lfs in such states ....

Walmart, as supproting the good walmart supports other walmarts to have well kept fish.

not ALL walmarts are bad..although most of the horror stories dont support their care of fish, you do have that few in a crowd that do well..most of us that love our fish babies, can tell the difference just from looking at their tanks.....and if yours is a good one, from the op id say it is, why would you begin to question either them or a LFS that mistreats fish? just because others dont have a good track record with their walmarts, doesnt mean you have to follow them my walmart is actually good also..but one town over, is horrendous!

I would go with the Wal-Mart. Because it's easy to get to and like you said, the tanks and fish are healthy and clean. Just because a couple Wal-Mart are bad doesn't make the whole chain evil. I have 2 pretty good Wal-marts, besides from the betta cups. The owner of the one farthest away (The one I usually go to) models and builds aquariums, he also builds his own filters. He and these 2 women really care about he fish.

i would go with the walmart and really support the staff that is doing their job right. We have a petsmart in my town, and while i hear all kinds of bad stories about petsmart around the country, this group really does a great job with their fish. As I have gotten to know the staff, they really get frustrated at the bad rap they get from other stores not doing their job..and really take pride and have a lot of patients working with families setting up their tanks

It's really great to hear that there are more Walmarts out there that actually do a good job with their fish. All you ever hear are the horror stories.
