| It looks like it's going to deal with the interesting issue of 'right to life' for non-humans. Notice, it's not "right to live" because everything has a right to live...but does everything have a right to choose it's own life free of oppression (as a human does)? We agree that all humans do, but cows don't. So where does an alien fall?
Scifi has done the "when does a cyborg stop being a machine and become a human" thing to death...does self-awareness indicate sentience, and does sentience make it human? etc.
but no one's ever looked at an aliens right to life. We always just assume they come here to make war, and we fight them off in heroic fashion. But what if they came as refugees? What would we do?
I HOPE this movies sticks to the issues and doesn't lose itself in conspiracy theories intrigue or interplanetary space marine heroism. I can only hope. |

| I can't wait to see it... It's looks to be a lot better than some of the recent movies to come out. And I like the other movies that Peter Jackson was a part of, and I hope that after this he will focus on the hobbit and king kong sequels! |

| It got an absolutely glowing review from Movie Bob at the Escapist...but he's sometimes a little eccentric. But looking at the specs (director, producers, writers, etc...) everything lines up for a great movie.
I'd like to go see it, it might be a fun date for my wife and I. She's usually into fantasy, but sometimes goes for some witty sci-fi...at least the good kind that explores social and moral dilemmas that would otherwise be impossible (or very difficult) to explore, and that has relevance and impact.
I'm talking about the difference between "Serenity" as good (excellent IMO) sci-fi, and "Battlefield Earth" as bad sci-fi. Both technically sci-fi...but night and day difference.
I think it's interesting that sci-fi and fantasy do the same thing, they explore social/moral issues that would be impossible otherwise, but they go about it in opposite directions. Sci-fi makes the dilemas relevant through advanced technology, while fantasy makes them relevant through magic. |

| I won't see it until it hits DVD...there's much better ways for my wife and i to spend $20, like vodka. (more hours of fun per dollar makes it a higher value activity!) |

I've also read two (Anne McCaffery's Freedom series and one of the Alien vs Predator) stories that look at it from the superior alien/inferior human POV.
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within sort of takes a look at this perspective. The "invaders" are dead, but they sort of live on, and there's a choice of "try to defeat them or try to help them." The Outer Limits has also looked at the scenario like this. The episode; Caught in the Act is one example.
As far as the original question goes, this is one I'm going to save for rental. It sounds interesting, but maybe not interesting enough to pay $10 for. Besides, my wife wouldn't want to see it. A friend's wife got sick watching it (not sure what my friend was doing bringing her to this movie... he knows she doesn't do well with gore), and my wife has similar tastes, though not as extreme. |

| I saw it in theaters and would pay $10 to see it again, that's how much I enjoyed this movie... By far the best new movie I have seen in a long while. All of the special effects are very well done (Unlike G.I. Joe) and the plot was very refreshing for me, instead of the whole aliens are coming, blow them up!!! |
