What should I do. Answer the poll or post a comment.

My options are:
- Get a new 18g/70L tank
- Trade in my fish for cichlids
- Get a quarentine tank
- Focus on spawning mollys
- Focus on spawning blue gouramis
- Get a nursery tank
- Wait...
- Focus on spawning tetra's
- Do nothing

if you have another opinion other than the poll choices please post a comment

:-)

I would hold off on getting another tank at this point and concentrate on the fish that you have. If anything I would suggest a quarantine tank.

No problem. Sometimes I like to use all caps in one word for emphasis. All caps in a post is hard to read for some people (like myself) with vision problems.

Also instead of creating a new reply to your own posts you can use the edit feature and make necessary corrections or you can do a preview before actually posting. Food for thought Have a good day today.

- To allow others to keep up on the converstion
- just easier

Oh, yes, we are going to get annoyed. So are the other members (as aquarist's post just showed). Back to back posts clutter the forum. That's why you'll notice that your back to back posts will get merged (like what happened in this thread).

As was explained to you earlier, your post count means nothing. There is no reason to try to boost it.

You're a poet and didn't know it!

I also would go the quarantine tank - exactly what I'm setting up now with my now emply 60 litre tank. I definitely don't want to chance it with the fish I have in my new tank

i might get a new 70L tank as a quarentine tank/nursery tank.

I voted "Get a new tank," so that you could split your current stock between the two tanks, to give the fish more swimming space.

In my opinion, one gourami is too much for that tank. Their current size is less important than their potential size, and blue gourami get to be six inches. As fish grow bigger, their waste production grows geometrically, not to mention the fact that they need more swimming space.
From the fish you have, I would stock an 18g with either the tetras (and just the tetras) or the mollies (and just the mollies).

That would be better. It would still be stressful for the fish, but if you provided plenty of hiding places (and maybe traded in any female mollies for males so they don't breed), and kept up on your water changes, it might work out.

Fish, just like people, need their space to move around.
Think of if you had to live your entire life inside your classroom, with all of your classmates in there. The door is closed, food falls from the ceiling on a regular basis, and someone cleans up after you once a week.
Now, think of if you and your classmates got moved to the gymnasium. No more people were added, you're just living in the gym now. You've got space to run, places to sit down and eat, areas for different groups of friends to hang out in. Wouldn't that be a lot better?

There is no formula to predict how long it will take a stressed fish to succumb. There are a whole bunch of variables.

What you do is up to you, but as I said above, I think that an 18g tank is too small for even one blue gourami.

i vote that you need to get another tank, you are overstocked in that tank and the gourami are going to kill each other

i voted new tank and i would also like to say that it need to be a lot bigger than an 18 gallon tank and i would move a lot of what you have in the 18 gal over to the new tank but that just me!!
