Regarding Bettas & Sand

Since this thread (Bettas with sand substrate) was so cluttered up, I decided to open a new thread and ask a direct question. You can answer in the poll. Please vote!

Have you ever had a betta death directly linked to ingesting sand?

If no one else has, I'm inclined to think that maybe in chickadee's case the betta's death was from some other cause than sand ingestion. I've done alot of googling, and I've never found anywhere else that says anything at all about bettas dying from eating sand.

I was also thinking... Shawnie said in my other thread that if a betta dies from eating sand, there are nothing to indicate a specific disease... only a dead betta floating at the top of the tank. If so, couldn't one betta death be mistaken for sand ingestion when it was really someting else?

**EDIT** Oh no! I forgot the poll and when I try to edit my post I can't seem to find the option for adding a poll! Can I somehow add one?

Sorry, Maddie, tried to add your poll, but didn't see an option.

I don't know why you felt the other thread was 'cluttered' you asked for advice and recieved several opinions.
Only you can make this choice.

Anyone who questions Chickadees knowledge about Bettas obviously doesn't know her.
It's not a warning she would post lightly.
She founded and moderated the betta board long before many of us joined.

I never said anything about a betta floating....I agree this poll isnt necessary as you got answers in your other thread...are you not use to getting that many answers is that why you think its cluttered? because every thread was an answer to your question.....its your decision and a poll isnt going to change your mind....just heed the warnings and do as you wish .. .nothing more needed

At the top right under Fish Forum Thread Tools.
I took care of it for you.

Just remember everyone's experience is different. We can ask opinions gather advice, but ultimately, we have to decide for ourselves.

Good luck whatever you decide to do
