| I've read about the evil they can do and believe me, I keep an eye on mine, but so far, he's a good little guy. Keeps my tank squeaky clean and doesnt bother anybody. I think my RTS keeps him in line; they play chase every now and then. |

| I would never have one, so I voted Dislike. I think they are kind of evil looking, but that could be me projecting the evil things they do when they are older! |

| alot of fish become "annoying" and 9 times out of 10 , its the owners fault... similiar to vicious dogs IMO |

| how long have you had e'm. after a year or possibly 5 or six months into keeping them (or when they get older) they can be a real pain in the neck. they were personally responsible for killing my cousins molly babies. but i still dont mind them. |

| all fish will eat molly babies so that wasnt the proper tank for them.......and again, they will be fine if put in the proper tank with the proper diet ....ive had mine for 2 years or so and they are in with fish that dont have flat bodies and they are fed a constant diet of veggies and bloodworms... |

| actually, they were about the size of a big black neon tetra. there was no way that it could fit in its mouth. it has since been responsible for killing other fully grown male mollies. |

| They are ok... I had one and had to get rid of it. It was leaving marks on my gourami... and chasing other fish as well. I don't blame the fish, however. I was illadvised at the LFS that he would make a good addition to my tank. Next time I will do a little more research before taking advice at the pet store.

| If you do the research first and find out their requirements they are pretty cool fish. Like any fish the right size tank, the right food and the right tank mates go a long way toward being able to enjoy them.
I like how they look. Of course I like most pleco like fish

| I voted 'they're okay'. I think that they would probably be very rewarding in the right tank, maybe a species only set up?
In regards to the 'I want to wipe them out option', did the OP possibly mean that if you vote that, you don't think they should be sold in fish stores? While I agree it could have been phrased better, innocent until proven guilty. |

| I enjoy my cae's. I have had them for about 4 years - they are kept with goldfish and 2 sailfin plecos in my pond in the summer and in a tank with my plecos in the winter. The first two years, I rehomed them in the winter to a teacher friend of mine for her fish tanks (she has MTS BAD). With her, they are with guppies, mollies, platies, swordtails, and anglefish. She has other fish also, but I don't remember what. She keeps them one each in 20 gallon or larger tanks. Neither one of us has ever had any issues with aggression towards other fish. I think the main thing to remember is that they need a lot of room, multiple "homes" to hide in and defend, and a varied diet that includes meaty foods as well as the algae in the tank. When I bought the ones I have, I was careful to get ones that were not chasing other fish and had a nice plump look to them. This way I knew I was getting ones that had not been starved to the point of having to feed off other fish. |

| I voted they are ok. I like the one I have but have only had him 4 months. We named him Waldo as in "where's Waldo" because he hides. So far he doesn't bother any of my fish and I have him in a 20 gallon with tetras and Corys. I hope he behaves! |

| hey im the cousin of 11yancazosj. i use another forum closer to me instead of this more often and i just signed up here. now about that story with the mollies. that chinese algae eater was always a very sneak and naughty fish. it personally killed the other 2 of my chinese algae eaters smaller than it in the tank and ate all there guts .lol. then it ate my molly juvies 1 by 1 over a period of a week. this was when it really started annoying me. then it killed one of my black neon tetras. this majorly stressed out the other tetras in the tank giving some neon tetra disease. 1 died and the algae eater ate it. next day i find it dead.
theres the story of how it annoyed me. lol. Last edited by benga-peacock; May 8th, 2009 at 09:20 AM.
