| | Fish Keeper | Most of my fish are named. the kids are irritated that we cant name ALL of them but really, how do you name neon tetras? we cant tell them apart!
the angelfish are Rex and Twinkles.
the Yoyo's are Loopy Loach, Mr. Yo, and ZigZag.
The black neon tetras are Phantom and Mini (mini is new, so he is small)
the plecos are Find and See. as in we play 'find the pleco' and 'can you see the pleco'
our betta is Maximus II. can you guess what the first betta was called?
we had snails that died suddenly they were Darth Bigshell, Speedy, and White Lightning. they are survived by Tiny Tim, the freeloading plant snail that could. |

| | Fish Master | I've named all of my fish, but they are all easy to tell apart. If I had a school then I would name them collectively. ie "The Swarm" or some other such title |

| | Fish Keeper | I named my betta (and will name every betta I ever own); but even though I desperately want names for my sterbai corys, I am completely unable to think of any! So please.. any great ideas, let me know them.
For the record, even though I know how you are supposed to be able to tell the difference between male and female corys I seriously cannot tell.
My betta is named Devo because I grew up in the 80's. When I considered getting a snail I was GOING to name him REO Speedwagon because that would have been too funny for a snail. But I ended up getting corys instead. |

| | Fish Helper | I name some- I name all betta fish and fish that are distinguishable.
Sir Elton the rainbow VT male betta (tricolor with lots of bleeding makes it look like five...)
Big Mama the female red wagtail sword (she's the mother of my five fry and is queen of the 20 gal)
Whipster the male red wagtail sword (because he whips his tail everywhere... 'Look at me! Look at me!')
Zippy the male sunburst platy (because he zips everywhere...)
Pineapple the female pineapple platy (blah, I dunno what to name her, so that's her name for now)
Clausy the CAE (he tries to school with the other fish, but they all avoid him like the plague. Except the fry, who love him.)
Johnny 5 the swordtail fry (he's the runt, and a little weird- he'll go exploring all over the tank and tries to school with the CAE. He's really adventurous.) |

| | Fish Keeper | Blue/red/purple/pink/white male VT betta - Ivan. When he flares at himself I call him Ivan the Terrible
Male dwarf gourami - Gabriel. May have to change that, lately he's been NO angel
Female cherry barbs - the golden girls
Male cherry barb - big red (gotta improve that one)
Panda cory catfish - Larry, Curly and Moe
I'm planning on getting a female betta in the future (for the 3g; Ivan will go in the 5g when the cherry barbs are well and go into the 20g...). I want a little blue girl, who I will name Belle. |

| | Fish Lore Newbie | I name, (well both the wife and I), named the fish - but some that we can't tell apart we give group names, and don't worry about which is which - like Larry, Curly, & Moe, for the Corys or the 3 Tenors for our Black Skirt Tetras.
Some we give a bit of formality too by just adding Mr. or Mrs. on the front - Mr. kribensis, Mrs. Betta. Still others go unnamed or just are described by their color or some other feature. Like the wife'll say something like; "You know your stupid redish tetras are nipping at Mrs. Betta fins, don't you?" (She doesn't really like my Serpae Tetras), but I really like them. (Notice too that when a fish is naughty, it's my fish but when they act nicely they are her fish. I have 2 standard Serpaes and 2 with raggedy flowing fins. I like them - they are awesome looking. But they don't have any names. Then there is Ras and Boris, our pair of Black Line Rasboras. Mr. & Mrs. Gourami, etc. |
