I prefer Neons better than Cardinals. Cardinals are harder to handle here in my country and they are twice or triple the price compared to Neons. I think Neons are cuter as well!

I have kept both and the cardinals seem to do better. Neon's are known to be prone to ntd but cardinals are not. Cardinals can have just as vibrant colors as neons with proper care. They do cost a bit more than neons but i was told it's because they are not as widely captive bred like the neons are.

I think they both look nice. I debated between the two for awhile and I finally picked the Neons. I have a school of 5 and they look great in the tank. I was hearing all kinds of stuff about both tetras that almost scared me away from getting them, but I'm glad I decided to get Neons because they're doing fine and I've had them for like 3 months now.

I tried both.......my neons didnt make it i got more neons to substitute and they didnt make it either

Decided to get cardinals and they have been doing great.....Cardinals seem more active then neons to me.

I see alot of people say cardinals are more expensive, not the case here. Cardinals and Neons are both 1.99$ here...........how about everywere else?

I can get neons for a $1.00 a piece here. Cardinals are very hard to find in this area and are usually around $3.00 a piece when i do find them.

I have 7 neons in my tank. I like how small they are. Cardinals are very hard to find in my area, and I've looked at 6 stores. The one store I do buy actual fish, not just supplies from, suprisingly never has cardinals..... I vote neons since I am in the room with my tetras and wouldn't want them to think I'd prefer their relatives. Lol.

Neons were my first ever fishes! but I love the color of the cardinals and will most likely keep them if I setup a FW tank but for now will stick to my SW!

I had a childhood of dream of having a big tank with lots of neon tetra's in. I tried to for fill my dream but we just can not keep them alive we have tried and tried but with no luck. We then tried cardinal and these went down the same path and again we have tried several times. The guy in the LFS talked me into getting some albino glow light tetra's now these little guys do great for us as do head and tail light tetra's even though I have 4 huge and 1 tiny tiny head and tail lights tiny seems to have never grown. We have mixed luck with rummynose BUT I think I have sorted there issues out oven tho they keep getting ITCH
