| Interesting. I have nearly the exact same setup as you equipment-wise (it's currently a QT for a dwarf gourami) and I've also been wondering what on earth to do with it when he moves to the 20g.
The DG has been in there for about 2 weeks. I don't think he's suffering, but I definitely think he'd like more space. A betta on the other hand (male or female) would loooovvve a 5g.... hmm I just sorta answered my own question I guess.
Good luck whichever you decide |

| A female betta, IMO, is the best for a 5 gal. They stay relatively small, and don't have flowing fins that could get caught on anything. |

| gourami's even dwarfs, love to exlpore and are very nosey...I think the 5 gal would be too confined..but thats just my opinion |

| A dwarf puffer would be great. How can you resist their puppy dog eyes? |

| In regards tp fishyuser63 and Pink, I have tried puffers (dwarfs to be exact) and I found that I could not support the care they needed. I don't want to have that happen again. I'm using my angelfish that i'm getting in a while as the ultimate test before i try puffers again. I've never kept angels and from some of the posts on here, they can be pretty sensitive |

| And The Winner Is.... looks like I'm getting a female betta! the tank is cycling and I got an A+ on my how-to set up a betta tank speech. 97 out of a possible 100! The teacher said that I've had one of the most interesting how to speeches ever and he's considering to have me over to set up a community fish tanka t his house and maybe even a betta tank of his own! |

| you're correct in that the angels are very sensitive. hope i'm not derailing the thread, but out of curiosity what size tank/how many do you want? i've been looking into angels myself, and i'm going to wait to do it until i can get 3 twenty or thirty gallon hex tanks so i can buy six juvies (3 boys, 3 girls) and let them pair off on their own |
