| Snow Days!!!!! WOOHOO!!!! I got a snow day today!!! One of the few perks in Wisconsin is the snow, we had 4 in. on the ground yesterday and its been snowing since 6:30 PM, and its still snowing at 9:30 AM. We have about a foot on the ground as of now and its not letting up.
Do you get snow days where you are or not? |

| What part of WI you in? Northern? (Don't need specifics, just curious) I am in South Eastern WI and it was snowing since yesterday to but was a rain/sleet/snow mix and is now just a snow.. Should make for a nice drive home.
HockyRef- Lucky, I hate it here. One day they call for 2-3in, next thing you know there is already 6in. Or when it rains one day and is 34*F and overnight it freezes and morning it snows. Accidents anyone? lol Last edited by outlaw; December 9th, 2008 at 10:58 AM.

| Snow...days... I recognize the two words, but when I was a kid, we Minnesotans simply trudged through the snow (uphill both ways mind you) to get to school. One day, we had to shovel the school out before we could start our classes.
No, just kidding. Of course we got snow days, although now, as a college student, I rarely get them. Only when the governor actually announces that the state is shut down does my college cancel classes. The U of M doesn't even go that far. Because it's not technically a state business (I don't get that), it doesn't have to abide by the governor's order for shutdowns. |

We had some of those days when I was in grade school, although not during the school year where we had to hang out at McD's to stay cool because the heat index was in the 100's. |

| They close the schools here at the sign of a flurry. Silly.
I loved snow days as a kid and when my kids were little. I love sledding, building snowmen and all that comes with it. Granted we don't get much where I live now.
I miss the snow from growing up in the north. |

| Butters- they are saying only 1-3 for today (wasn't able to see what fell yesterday/overnight), were the roads (from what you could see) that bad? If its like here, it takes pretty bad conditions to close down schools, well the schools I went to anyways.. never seem to be closed often.
Lucy- I don't miss it at all, although I am still here, lol. Like extreme heat, you can't really do anything during the storm, and even if it isn't snowing, the amount of cloths to keep dry/warm to me isn't worth putting on, although that will have to change with having to young children now. |

| I live on a small street so the city plows come very late to our street. From what I can see though they are pretty slick, and I am NOT taking any chances in driving out there.
I still love going sledding! except me and my friends go a little more extreme than we used to. |

In highschool or elementray the school never actually "closed" the buses just didn't run, the teachers still had to be there and if there were enough kids from town in your class then things went on as normal. |

| We have very little snow here in the winter just mostly snow flurries but it has been very cold.... If we get a big snow here it waits until march. The weather here is very crazy. Doesn't make sense. I love to see it snow. We had I believe like 14 inches back in the 80's when I was in school that was so cool we where out for a whole week.... |

I wish it were only 95 lol |

| I'm not in school but put yes since we do get snow days here...they just don't apply to me
We got a lot of snow days in Ohio...usually a couple a year. Most of the time though, in an area that is used to snow, the road crews are right on it and we would end up with just a delay so they had an extra hour or two to get the roads clear.
Now in IL it's just gross, lol. It freezes and snows...everything's lovely (I love snow)...then a week later it melts and the world is a nasty quagmire until it refreezes and snows again. This is my first winter here, but I'm told it's the norm for the area... |

That reminds me, I jazzed up my bumper today...with a trailer hitch, lol. The road was ice. I tapped the brake and just slid, whoooo!
And here's an example of "gross"...Anything that's not covered with ice or slush is covered with salt.
Martinismommy: That's 95...with 70% humidity. Supar Phun. Sweat won't evaporate so you sweat even more. And before you know it, your clothes are soaked and there's drops of sweat all over the floor. |

| Tavel we have matching detail work on the front bumper. Mine came with a cracked radiator a few days later so keep a look out for that.
I am from Calgary. Snow days didnt mean anything to me up there. I literally walked to school in snow taller than me a few times (jump-look-walk 5 steps-repeat). When I moved to Kentucky we had our first snow day and I thought my Dad was joking when he told me to go back to sleep. Ah the memories of snow days, or in Lexington Ice days. |

| Our area does get snow days but I hate snow. I have to shovel the cars out and the walkway. I think the only time I like snow is when I can whip the ball at my brother. I am usually good at beaming him in the head. |

| Yes, we get snow days here in western North Carolina. I remember when I was in school we would get up to check the news and head straight back to bed if school was closed. People don't know how to drive in the snow here so minimal snow fall - or even flurries = snow day. |

| I went to school in Rochester NY. Man did we have snow.(lake effect and all) I loved it!
Sometimes a snowday would come along. But those guys are hard core, it would take a lot to cancel class. |

| We don't get as much snow in Seattle as you'd think we would. It snows lots in the mountains but only will get snow below 5,000 feet about twice a year. The main reason schools are canceled here are because it'll rain (all the time) then freeze overnight, so there's like an inch and half of ice on all the roads. Or we'll get a storm and the power will be out for a few days. |
